The QUEEN'S SUITE

My fellow producer, Ricky Harmon, produced this spot.  I assisted on the location shoot.  We had a lot of fun with this spot, doing our best to have at least the beginning look like a movie.  We shot everything framed with an eye towards cropping it off to give the illusion of shooting on a widescreen format.  We actually stretched a piece of panty hose across the lens of the camera  to achieve the dreamy/hazy effect.

After much searching, Ricky found an old house that is often rented out for wedding receptions to double as our castle.  We brought in our dolly and track, found a costume for the king, and actually tracked down a history buff who owned his own suit of armor.  This person appears in the commercial as the knight standing guard in the room.  He's wearing real chain mail and has a real sword.

The exterior seen in the first shot is taken from the house in which we shot the interiors.  We used to Photoshop to extend the house's round corner up to look like a tower, then we cut the "castle" out from the background and keyed it over a background created to look like a scary sky.  Then we even used an animation program to create a crude looking dragon flying in the air, even going so far as to add flames shooting out of his mouth!

You kidding me?  We produced a spot with a castle, a knight in armor and a fire-breathing dragon!?!?  How cool is that?  All for just the first 20 seconds or so for a clothing boutique.  Enjoy.
