Ginza

I am very pleased with the way this one turned out.  When I met with the client for pre-production, I was able to get a good advanced look at this restaurant.  It had a couple of unique features that I knew I wanted to show off.  I liked the bamboo archway, the stovetop built into the tables needed to be seen, and I decided I really liked the red lights above the bar.  We shot in the middle of the day, but we blocked off all the windows so as not to have any sunlight.  I then used a dolly extensively during the shoot.  Mostly this was to allow me to boom the camera up and down, although we did go with one tracking shot.   With an extender on the dolly I was able to get the camera above the level of the red lights at the bar so that they could be seen.  I added red lights in the background of that shot to help balance the look.

It's a simple spot, really, promoting a new restaurant.  But I feel with our lighting scheme and camera dolly that we were successful in capturing the atmosphere and appeal of the place.  The only thing I don't like is the owner's kid runs into the middle of my tracking shot.  It ended up in the final spot because it was the best take I had.
