Within the last year or so, fans have seen the end of the third volume of AVENGERS and, to take its place, the debut of NEW AVENGERS. Writer Brian Michael Bendis has polarized fandom by discarding much of the history of the series and bringing in new members to join the team. Four of these new members include Luke Cage, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew).
This month's cover features the first time in AVENGERS history that these four characters appeared on the same cover together. This issue was an "Old Order Changeth" issue that saw the return of Hawkeye to the team as well as She-Hulk joining for the first time. A mere six issues later, Roger Stern would start his long run as the series writer, using the line-up set in this issue.
