From David Wright:
Force Works # 15
(1995)
With the recent release of YOUNG AVENGERS #1, drawn by Jim Cheung, I thought it might be fun to take a look back at Cheung's first AVENGERS cover. It's dated September 1995 and it was rather eventful. It was the last issue before THE CROSSING and Cheung would stay on the book through that event and would soon move over to IRON MAN to help chronicle the short lived adventures of Teen Tony. But back to the book at hand: in this issue Century teams up with USAgent to fight off an alien slavedriver who has come to recapture Century. At the end of the issue, Century leaves the team and heads back to the stars.
The Bullpen Bulletin page of this issue introduces Cheung to the readers. Writer Dan Abnett is quoted as describing Cheung as "very, very good indeed' and predicted that "The fans are gonna love his work a lot!" Fast forward nearly ten years and Cheung is still one of the "young guns" at Marvel.
Jim Cheung (penciler); Rey Garcia (inker); Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (writers); Jack Morelli (letters); Joe Rosas (colorist); Nel Yomtov (editor); Mark Gruenwald (chief)
