Featured Cover of the Month
From David Wright:
Avengers King-Size Special #2
(September 1968) "And Time, the Rushing River" and Chapter 2:"The Avengers Must Die"
This month's Cover was provided by Chris Luna. With the Scarlet Centurian showing up these days in the pages of AVENGERS, I thought it would be a good idea to spotlight his first appearance here. In this story, the Centurian calls up the original Avengers from an alternate timeline and promises utopia if they will eliminate all other super-powered beings on the planet. Naturally, this is just a good excuse to the see the current roster of heroes take on the original roster. This story roughly takes place between issues 56 and 57.
Roy Thomas (writer), Don Heck (layouts), Werner Roth (finished pencils), Vince Colleta (inker), Joe Rosen (letterer), Stan Lee (editor).

SPECIAL BONUS!
For those of you that have never had a chance to read Kang's first appearance, you may have missed Alan Davis' homage to Kirby in issue 41 of Volume Three. Below is the very first panel in which The Avengers ever meet Kang, in Vol. 1 #8 (Sept. 1964) and next to it is Davis' panel.
