Bevill State Community College

This is one spot in a series of three I did for this client, which has campuses throughout the state.  Ricky and I spent a marathon pair of days shooting just about everything the school offers.  When I was done I had a mountain of footage to make my through, but I was able to fashion a couple of solid spots out of it.  Then the client came back and said they wanted a generic spot that kind of showed everything.   So I dug back through all that footage and this spot was the result, and I kind of like the way it turned out.

The first thing I did was find the music I wanted to use, then I cut the video to the rhythm.  My first cut didn't really work, I felt that it lacked the energy I was going for.  I had shot most of the stuff fairly straightforwardly, meaning I shot everything from a tripod framed conventionally.  But what I was able to do in this case was find my outtakes.  The stuff between my intended shots where I let the camera roll through.  In other words, a lot of the handheld camera moves you see here is simply raw footage that was never intended to see the light of day.  I actually think the movement actually complements the rhythm of the editing quite well.
